As a Cloud Engineer within the Cloud Operations team, you will play a key role in designing, maintaining, and improving Mawaba’s cloud infrastructure and AI platforms.
You will ensure our systems are secure, scalable, and reliable, while driving innovation in automation, performance optimization, and cost reduction.

Your work will enable globally distributed teams to deploy cloud-native solutions that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

Incident Management and Operations

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and partners during incidents.
  • Identify service impacts and produce root cause analyses.
  • Maintain visibility into system health through proactive monitoring and regular status reports.

Cloud Development and Optimization

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure the readiness and performance of production cloud environments.
  • Provide architectural recommendations, analyze constraints, and propose improvements early in the process.
  • Support qualification, reliability testing, and performance evaluation phases prior to deployment.

Security and Compliance

  • Participate in security reviews as well as internal and external audits.
  • Monitor and analyze security tools to detect risks and anomalies.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and implement security patches and improvements.
  • Contribute to compliance initiatives (ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2, etc.).

Continuous improvement and automation

  • Propose and implement improvements to monitoring systems, dashboards, and alerts.
  • Develop automation scripts and cloud management tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews, technical documentation, and process optimization.
  • Contribute to cloud cost-reduction and sustainability initiatives.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cloud Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Cloud or DevOps Engineer.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Azure (experience with AWS or GCP is an asset).
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Terraform.
  • Proven competence with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with system monitoring, automation scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English required).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an international, multidisciplinary team.

Desired skills

  • Experience in AI, data science, or high-availability environments.
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud strategies, IaC best practices, and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of cloud security frameworks and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Analytical and creative mindset, with a passion for scalability, sustainability, and automation.
